Why choose homemade pet food?

  • Made with fresh ingredients so it retains maximum nutritional value
  • No fillers or preservative
  • Commercial pet food is only loosely FDA regulated. The FDA ensures that ingredients are safe, but does not oversee the quality
  • Easier to chew for senior pets and those with bad teeth
  • Commercial pet food typically contains rendered meat, which is essentially random parts of an animal. Oils and fats from rendered meats can lead to gastrointestinal complications in your dogs

Why choose Creature Cravings?

  • Locally sourced, human-grade, ingredients
  • Family-owned
  • Registered LLC with a Commercial Feed License
  • No single-use plastics. We are the only company in the area that uses reusable containers.
  • Our containers are safe for the freezer/fridge, microwave, and dishwasher so there's no worries if you forget to thaw it
  • Recipes are veterinarian approved
  • Weekly quantities available so it doesn't take up too much room in the freezer
  • Containers are stackable

Our Story:

Two years ago, Arielle finally convinced the family to adopt Stanley (2yo terrier mix) from the Dane County Humane Society. Stanley bonded with us quickly but was unfortunately constantly sick from his food. We consulted with our vet who recommended some of the top brands and advised us on how to properly switch. Despite our best efforts and all of the money we spent on different foods (over $300), Stanley was still no better. Finally, we decided to try to make our own pet food. We started by researching and consulting with our vet again. We learned that many homemade diets are not nutritionally balanced and that supplements are needed. With her recommendations, we purchased supplements and made our first batch….SUCCESS!!! Not only did Stanley eat ALL of it right away (which had never happened before) but he also finally perked up and showed us some of his personality after his meal. After a few weeks, his bowel movements were on a predictable schedule. After a few months, we noticed that his fur started to change; it was shiner, softer, and we noticed less shedding.
Scotty, who is more of a cat person, visited the humane society and adopted a cat a few months later. We already saw all of the benefits of homemade food with our dog so we knew we wanted to do the same for our cat, Zoe. Again, we worked with our vet and created a recipe. Once we were able to switch Zoe to our homemade food, we immediately noticed that her coat was so much shinier and that she no longer experienced hairballs.
In the summer of 2021, we took another visit to the humane society and adopted Gus, our new kitten....
